Hi everyone! We've had an eventful couple of days. But all is well. Katie had been wheezing off and on this week and then Thursday evening, it seemed worse, so we went to the doctor Friday morning. They did an rsv test first thing and it was negative - thank God! They also did a chest xray which turned out to be normal. But, oh, the xray itself was terrible! They of course, had to restrain Katie, but the little device they used just seemed awful. But it was over quickly. In the doctor's office she got a nebulizer treatment and afterwards when the doctor listened to her lungs he said they sounded 75% better, so she is getting those treatments here at home every 6 hours for a few days. We go back to the doctor Monday morning. The other thing we discovered at her appointment was that she has an ear infection in both ears. :-( So, she is also on a round of Augmentin for that.
BUT, Katie seems to feel just fine. She's never acted like she felt bad, even when the wheezing has been at its worst. I'm glad we caught the ear infections before they started bothering her a lot too. She has slept a lot today, but that's been ok as we've just been hanging out at home. We're going to do that again tomorrow. The doctor said that there are lots of kinds of infections that can cause wheezing, but from the tests they did, she does not have rsv or pneumonia and it's very unlikely that she has the flu. So we don't really know "what" it is for sure, but we're thankful to know what it isn't. And the albuterol she's getting through the nebulizer seems to help a ton. Have a good evening and we'll keep you posted!
