Hi all! Happy October! It's getting beautiful here, LOVE this time of year!
We got a good report from Katie's doctor yesterday. She is growing just like she should be - of course, she isn't in the same growth curve as other 6 month olds, but she's in her own little consistent curve. She's 10 lbs 1 oz - gained over a pound in the past 2 weeks! She is 21 and a quarter inches long. It won't be long till she will have doubled her length at birth. The doctor is taking her off of the high calorie formula and switching her to a still higher, but not as high formula and see how she does. She said that Katie looks wonderful.
Two items of not-as-good news, first the insurance will not cover Katie's RSV vaccinations until November 1, even though the doctor's office has requested that she have it starting in October. (She has to have a shot every month through RSV season.) We asked about going ahead and getting the shot and paying for it out of pocket, but each shot is over $1000.00. Dr. Treece said we would need to just keep Katie home for a while and limit her exposure to people as the cold/flu season is starting now. (My sister already has an upper respiratory infection and pneumonia.) We were told that a cold in an adult can actually be RSV, it just doesn't manifest itself the same way, so Donnie and I have to be especially careful with our own health too.
The other not-good news is that Katie has a bit of an ear infection. It doesn't look bad and she has not shown any symptoms, the doctor just saw it in looking at her ear. She went ahead and started amoxicillin. (Gotta love the pink bubble gum stuff!) She isn't terribly concerned, but of course we aren't taking any chances.
Katie got her 6 month shots yesterday. She was not thrilled! And, of course last night and today she hasn't felt great, but thank God for Infant Tylenol!
I'll get new pictures up asap. Thank you all for checking in and please continue to keep us in your prayers, that Katie's ear will clear up quickly and that God will protect her from any other kind of illness. Thank you all!
